El Salvador’s history and current reality is filled with inspiration of the role of women in the struggle for human rights and gender equality.  In the context of the International Day against Violence against Women and the 25th Anniversary of the assassination of 4 U.S. church women in El Salvador, the CIS is organizing a special Spanish school focused on the struggle of women in El Salvador and commemorate important historical dates in November and December of this year.  Program participants will also participate in the 16th anniversary of the assassination of the Jesuit Priests and their two women co-workers.

CIS program has focused on building women’s participation,  confronting traditional marginalization in community decision making.   CIS grassroots organizers, with the support of many women’s organizations in El Salvador, work to raise consciousness about women’s rights.
