Anniversary of the Assassination
of Archbishop Romero
March 24-31, 2008
Ø Accompany activities for the 28th anniversary of Archbishop Romero and the struggle for social justice today
Ø Learn about the struggle for the right to potable water
Ø Learn about application of anti-terrorist legislation to water and health care rights activists
Ø Learn about the case of Archbishop Romero in the Interamerican Human Rights Court, its ruling and the noncompliance of the Salvadoran government
Ø Learn about democratic and civil rights won in the 1992 Peace Accords and the threat towards them.
Ø Learn about the impacts of CAFTA and global neoliberal economic plans
Ø Visit communities, historical sights, CIS grassroots programs, meet with health care and water rights activists and leaders, visit women and youth groups
Ø Be in Solidarity with those in the struggle for human rights
Dates:
Arrive-midday flight March 24 and Depart-midday flight March 31, 2008
Cost:
$650 includes in-country expenses, food, transport, housing, program
($750 for a private room)
