CIS Strengthens Digital Skills of Women Entrepreneurs Through Digital Communication and Social Media Workshop

San Salvador, May 24. 2026. — CIS carried out a Digital Communication and Social Media Workshop aimed at women entrepreneurs from the communities where the organization supports economic empowerment and local development initiatives.

The workshop provided practical tools to help participants strengthen the digital presence of their small businesses, improve their online communication strategies, and understand how technology can become an accessible resource to increase visibility and sales.

This edition included three groups of women entrepreneurs:

  • Women from Las Coloradas, who create handcrafted textile items and hair accessories from Tasajera Island.

  • Women who produce traditional coconut preserves —a typical local sweet— from Espíritu Santo Island.

  • A group of women dedicated to traditional food production in Tonacatepeque.

Key topics covered included:

  • Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs): identifying tools they already use and exploring new opportunities to apply them in their businesses.

  • Digital communication: crafting effective messages to attract customers.

  • Social media management: understanding the advantages, challenges, and usefulness of platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp for business growth.

  • Content creation: designing attractive posts, understanding content types, and using tools.

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI): using AI tools to enhance images, messages, and digital content.

  • Hands-on practice: learning essential mobile device functions, taking product photos, using WhatsApp Business features, and posting content.

Participants engaged in group activities, creative exercises, and produced their first digital content pieces with guidance from the facilitators.

“I never realized I was already using technology. Now I know I can use it to improve my business and reach more customers,” shared a participant from Isla Espíritu Santo.

“I learned how to create my own designs, and now I have ideas for what to post on Facebook and Instagram. I feel more confident showing my products,” another woman from Las Coloradas.

CIS reaffirms its commitment to women’s economic empowerment, promoting training opportunities that strengthen digital skills, autonomy, and leadership within Salvadoran communities.
